BQ27545-G1: About the internal register that counts the amount of discharge

Part Number: BQ27545-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO,

Hi,

Please let me know just in case.
If this IC is disconnected from the battery while it is operating, will the discharge amount count in the internal register return to zero the next time it starts up?

Also, this register cannot be observed externally, right? (bqstudio etc.)

Regards,
Hitoshi Okuma

  • Hi Hitoshi Okuma,

The BQ27545-G1 is an Impedance Track flash gauge, it will save all information learned to the internal flash and will remember this information upon POR. Disconnecting the battery or cutting the power will not cause the gauge to reset flash values. The accumulated discharge should not reset to 0 when power is lost.

Yes, this value cannot be accessed externally. I recommend monitoring Cycle Count and configure CC threshold properly to monitor accumulated discharge.

    Evan

  • Hi Evan,

    Thank you for checking.

"The internal register that accumulates the discharge"
This is not saved directly to DF, right?
And this is RAM and I think it returns to zero on POR, what do you think?

  • Hi,

The internal register should not reset unless the CC Threshold his met. It will not reset after a POR.

  • Hi, Evan,

Thank you for providing such great information.

Regarding the internal count register (private):

    * Should not be reset unless CC Threshold is exceeded
    * Therefore, it is not reset even after POR

This is the spec I would expect. I'm glad.
