TPS53659: How will chip behave if the power sequence isn’t followed and if it is powered prior to programming.

Part Number: TPS53659

Hi there!

Could you help us understand how the TPS53659 would behave if the power sequence isn’t followed and if it is powered prior to programming.

I am aware of the 7.1 recommendations for power sequency startup. But in our case the 12V comes up prior to 3.3V.

Thank you!
Kara

  • Hi Kara,

Our team will get back to you on this.

  • Hi Kara,

As said in 7.1 recommendations giving 3.3V first enables the pre-startup over voltage protection on input pins. If the sequence is not followed this protection will not get enabled and if voltage on 12V PIN exceeds the rating the device might get damaged. Also the fault logging and protection will not start as expected.

If the power sequence is not followed there are chances that device may not start the regulation of the channels and throw certain faults.

    Best Regards,
    Chanakya.
