TPS51200-Q1: REFIN before VIN/EN overshoot magnitude and mitigation?

Part Number: TPS51200-Q1

It is mentioned in a few threads that if VIN/EN come up after REFIN there is some overshoot to be expected on the output.

1. How much overshoot is expected?

2. Can the overshoot be reduced by delaying EN a ms or two after VIN is up with an RC filter?

  • Hi Jason,

I've seen anywhere from 200mV to 300mV of overshoot.

I believe the overshoot occurs on REFOUT when VIN ramps after REFIN is biased.

So if VO remains disabled until the REFOUT overshoot has passed by holding EN low for a bit longer longer using the filter, the overshoot shouldn't show up on VO since it follows REFOUT.

    Regards,

    James
