[FAQ] TPS2592AA: NRND status

Part Number: TPS2592AA
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25924

Why is TPS2592AA status changed to NRND (not recommended for new designs) and what is the replacement for it.

  • TPS2592AA is now NRND but not LTB or EOL so, we will continue to support the device for running projects. However, for new designs, we encourage adoption of the newer device.

Due to a performance limitation in high-current applications, TPS2592AA is specified at a lower maximum continuous output current (3.4A). The next-generation device, TPS25924, has an improved design to support up to 5A and is a drop-in replacement. With this design change, it can support greater maximum power dissipation and work for a wider range of customer applications.

Based on this, TPS25924 is the preferred device for new designs.

    Best Regards,
