UCC28782EVM-030: Aux Power

Part Number: UCC28782EVM-030
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG2610, UCC28782, UCC28600, UCC28740

Customer is wondering to know if UCC28782 + LMG2610 is able to realize below condition?

Pri : 127~373Vdc  to

Sec: Vcc 5V/0.8A, Power = 4W

Sec: 40V~52V(48V) 16W (x 4), total power = 16x4 =64W

Total Power: 68W

Application: Aux Power for Servo Drive

Ambient Temp: 80degree

Or is there suited solution? Thanks.

Regards

Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Thank you for reaching out the UCC28782 part.

The input voltage range seems good for this controller.

But one thing which I see as a down side is the multiple outputs depending on the regulation of low (cross regulation), PWMH wants to be short for rail with light load and the other will want the demag time to be long for its full load, then maybe there could be chaos where the IC can’t decide whether to run at a high frequency or a low frequency.  I guess if the max loading wins and causes PWMH to be on long, then it will allow reverse current through the SR.  At “best” it would generate voltage spikes when the SR turns off.   At worsts things blow up. This has not been tried in reference design. Generally I have seen customers use UCC28600/ uCC28740 with secondary controller for multiple output flybacks. Please let us know if you have any questions.
