BQ79614-Q1: We use the BQ79614-Q1 and it turns on very briefly

Part Number: BQ79614-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Hello,

We use the BQ79614-Q1 on a custom PCB in combination with the BQ79614EVM-021 (evaluation board). When sending wake-up ping through the BQAutoEval, the AVDD DVDD LDOIn Negative 5V... all go in ACTIVE voltage levels for 5ms. After this time they return to SHUTDOWN mode voltage levels.

We have 20 modules, all same components and pick and placed. Only one works as expected, all others behave like descirbed above.

We have no idea how to solve this, or what causes this problem.

Greetings,
Tim

  • Picture on the left is the not working one (goes in ACTIVE very shortly). Picture on the right is the one that is working.

Both pictures measure the COMLP pin.

Wrong capacitor used in CVDD line. This caused noise on this line, resulting in an over/under voltage error, resulting in the chip shutting down. Was fixed by soldering capacitor as mentioned in the datasheet

  • Hi Tim,

Which module is working as expected? Is it the first device connected to the USB2ANY?

Can you also confirm that you are autoaddressing as well?

    Best Regards,

    Anthony Pham
