TPS54310: Has there been a Die Change?

Part Number: TPS54310

We have just started using a new reel of the above component and have noticed a step change in behaviour. We do a resistance check on the input line to the TPS54310 as part of our safe to start tests. This normally measures 3.3Kohms, there are various other components connected to the same net. Now with this new reel of parts we are measuring 90ohms. There is a time element to this measurement as if we leave the DVM connected the measurement will slowly rise to 3.3K. This suggests some sort of new leakage path. We have swapped components from the old and new reels and the "fault" travels with the TPS54310.

Have there been any changes to the die or packaging recently? It's an old part so I didn't think so but need to check. The "good" parts are from mid 2020 the "bad" parts are from late 2022.

The parts are perfect functionally and our CCAs pass all other tests many of which depend on the TPS54310 so we don't believe there is a actual fault with the part.

Thanks,

Jim.

  • Hi Jim,

There was an update to the package lead frame towards end 2020. I'm not sure if this is the reason for your observation.

From the measurements, it seems there is some higher input capacitance.

    Best regards,
