LM25149-Q1: Different grounds in active EMI filtering

Part Number: LM25149-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

The datasheet for LM25149Q-1 shows two typical applications. One for 2.1 MHz switching frequency and one for 440 kHz. Cinc is grounded using two different ground references for the two designs. Cinc in the 2.1 MHz schematic is connected to GND and Cinc in the 440 kHz schematic is connected to REFAGND. Is there any reason for this discrepancy or is it something that can be ignored?

Also, I was under the impression that the different grounds had to be separated, but all grounds are stitched together in the PCB layout (Fig. 9-37 in the datasheet). What am I missing?

  • The current EVM has the REFAGND connected to the wider plane since it is assumed there is not much input voltage delta/deviation.

However if it is a concern, you can definitely route the REFAGND specifically to the input power connector.
