UCC28180: Power Factor Correction coil current irregularity

Part Number: UCC28180

Tool/software:

Using ucc281280 to make a boost circuit for PFC.

Input is AC mains(185Vrms-265Vrms)

Output is 400V . Power transferred is 2.4KW

FSW:150KHz

An irregularity was observed in the coil current

What can cause this type of effect. I have tried this using different inductors but this irregularity is always present.

  • Hi,

We will get back to you shortly. Thanks for the patience.

  • Hello Saurjyesh,

I'm sorry for my delayed response.  I have been out-of-office for several days.

The irregularity shown in the current waveform is unusual.
Please verify that there is no irregularity in the AC input voltage that may account for it.

Assuming that the AC voltage is clean, the most likely cause of the irregular shape is a lagging response of the ICOMP voltage.

Can you provide a waveform of the ICOMP signal together with the input current, please?  Use a 1V/div scale.
Can you also please provide the schematic diagram of the UCC28180 control section with component values?
That may help to understand the cause of the lagging response.

    Regard,
    Ulrich
