BQ25703A: USB-C Power Bank

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP40312, PMP40294, BQ25730, BQ25723

Tool/software:

Hi, we were looking at using TIDA-01515 to create a power bank to repurpose a specific type of battery that already has a BMS built in (SMBus communication), but we would like to know if there is a suggested replacement to TIDA-0515 as it seems to be discontinued, and what is the best way of implementing this with a battery pack with a BMS already, if there would be another chipset that would be better suited, please suggest. Power bank needs 1 DRP USB-C port (can be split off to one UFP and one DFP if easier) and 1 USB-A port.

  • Hi, Josh,
Please refer to these two REFERENCE DESIGNS.

  • Hi Tiger,

As I mentioned, this system needs to be charged via a singular USB-C DRP or a dual UFP and DFP port with a 4S1P battery with a nominal voltage of 17.6V

    Josh

  • I am new to the PD device. For 4S battery chargers, my recommendation is BQ25730 or BQ25723.
