TPS54140A: TPS54140ADGQ

Part Number: TPS54140A

Tool/software:

We currently use the following item since many years

TPS54140ADGQ

However, during the the last period we are getting a lot of breakdowns, but we are unable to identify the cause since we are working followint the right conditions (within the expected margins).

In particular, the input voltage does not exceed 32÷33Vdc, protected by a 36V transil. The load of the integrated circuit does not exceed half a watt (moreover from the datasheet we see that it is protected by an internal NTC).

The failure mode always seems to be the same: short-circuit of the upper buck switch, which in cascade then leads to the failure of the various integrated circuits downstream of the regulator.

Have other customers encountered a similar problem?

We ask if similar cases have been encountered by other customers? Can we look into the problem together with Texas? It is very urgent, since we are in a working mass production.
