TPS7A20: Floating or grounding N/C pin 4

Part Number: TPS7A20

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,

Good day!

I'm posting this on behalf of the customer.

I am implementing a TPS7A2031 in the DBV (SOT-23) package into my project and would like to ask for clarification regarding pin 4 (N/C). I could not find information regarding this on the Power Managment forums, so I have to directly ask here.

To my knowledge, N/C pins usually must not be connected on the PCB, in other words they shall be left floating. Reasons could be that they where needed during MFG-processes, e.g. as locations for trimming or for access to internal circuits.

The pin description of the TPS7A20 datasheet however is a bit unclear to me as it states "No internal connection". Does this mean that:

  • a) Pin 4 can be tied to ground, as can be seen in TIDA-010042 (p. 1), as it is not connected on the inside
  • b) Pin 4 shall be left floating, meaning do not connect on the outside

I am looking forward to hearing from you and appreciate your help.

Best regards,

Jonathan
