We don't have simulation capability to evaluate the loop, but there are a couple options. As you mentioned, transient analysis (through load/line step) is the most straightforward method, but if you have access to a Bode 100 you can do a traditional Bode plot by breaking the loop, or you can also do a non-invasive stability analysis (NISM) with an output impedance measurement. In modern devices, a traditional Bode plot is often not possible because there is often an integrated feedforward capacitor which makes it impossible to break the loop, but I think this old device likely doesn't have one.
