reg710-3.3 shutdown current too high

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: REG710-3

I'm using the reg710-3.3 (SOT23-6 package) in a battery powered application and see excessive quiescent current when ENA is pulled low.  Should be < 1uA according to the spec, but I'm seeing up to 900uA through the reg710 when ENA is low and the output is shorted to GND.  Input voltage is 3.7V nominal. Circuit is based on the reference in the spec.  Any advice?

  • We tried 1 IC in the same configuration on the bench and did not see increased quiescent current.  The datasheet spec was tested with the output tied to ground through a large resistor, not shorted to ground.

Will the ouput actually be shorted in your application?  Are you testing this in circuit, i.e. are there other circuits tied to the charge pump's output when you measure the increased quiescent current.

  • One other quick question - is there anything else tied to enable? Just thought I'd ask that to get the simple stuff out of the way.
