What is the target current for your application? I am not familiar with coil load. Could you pls help to introduce if there are any special requirement for this case?

The current shall be adjustable between 0 to 1A. The system is powered by 24Vdc.

Our customer would like to have an output with two operating modes
- a current source mode with a current that varies according to a setpoint ( analog, PWM, etc...)
- an on/off mode: 24V/high impedance, 2A
In both cases, the output must be protected against short circuits.
Initially, I was thinking of using a switching regulator (like LM5012-Q1) and a current sense resistor + differential amplifier connected to the FB input in order to control the current. I'm worried about stability.

The application is an electronic unit for heavy mine excavator. Some ECU outputs shall drive coils with adjustable current source. Coil range is 300 to 600mH. Max current :1A. Power supply : 24Vdc

As explained above, output shall have two operating mode (constant current or 24V/HiZ). Ideally, the same component should be used for both modes

Understand, thanks for your introduction and your EE. Sorry that I am not familiar with the coil, what is the work voltage for a coil with 1A? Our device is LED driver, and it can control the output current as you wanted. I need to check if device can control the coil.
