Hello!

I am trying to use the set up below to test varying USB-C lengths. So far, the furthest length that had a successful connection was 26.6ft, but I am trying to get to 30ft. If I was able to get it to 26.6ft, 30ft should be feasible.

Is there a certain configuration of the pins on either the TUSB546EVM or TUSB564RNQEVM that I should be adjusting for USB connection?

Hi,

Is the USB device being recognized as a USB2 or a USB3 device?

For USB3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) Type-C cable, the max insertion loss is 7dB which is around ~3m in cable length. Max USB2 cable length is 5m. The 26.6ft is almost 8m, outside the USB2 and 3 spec, is this a special built passive cable to an active cable?

I am using a USB2.0 cable from the source to the USB546EVM, as the USB3.0 stopped working at much shorter lengths.

We are trying to accomplish the tests using passive cables.

Is there another TI EVM that would meet a 30ft cable requirement?

Hi,

Since this is a USB2.0 application, you could use our TUSB211A EVM, https://www.ti.com/tool/TUSB211RPTREVM to test out the cable. TUSB211A is a dedicated USB2.0 re-driver.
