BQ51050B: How to charge using a Vadapter

Part Number: BQ51050B

Tool/software:

Hello.

I purchased the bq51050BEVM-764.

And I charged a lithium battery with Qi-compliant charging stand from AMAZON.

The settings for the bq51050BEVM-764 are as follows.

 1. Charging current: JP6 FIX, 1000mA

 2. Temperature control: JP3 DIS, Ignores temperature

 3. Battery voltage: 3.2V

The charging LED on the kit is on, but the charging current is 400mA.

I want to determine whether there is a problem with the constant design around the pickup coil or with the charging control.

User's guide "SLUUA25C–October 2012" says that charging is not possible even if 5V is input from J1,

but I think that if 4.2V is supplied to RECT, the charging control can be checked.

If you have any advice, could you teach me .

Many thanks

  • Hello

A couple of things to check:

1.) Double check OUT voltage at on evaluation board (TP7).  We have seen resistance in meters, connections and similar cause increase in voltage at OUT then enter CV mode.

2.) Check voltage at ILIM, this will represent output current.  At 1.2V the unit is in current regulation.

3.) What in OUT voltage vs RECT voltage?

  • Thanks for the update

    Thank you for your reply.

It turns out why the charging current is short.

    Fast charge is 3.0-3.5V.

The tested battery was 3.6V and the insertion resistance was 0.5 Ω.

The resistor inserted to measure the current further increased the voltage.

So, I made a very low battery and try again.

The current was confirmed to be 1A.

    Thank you very much.
