LMG1020: Why is the Switching Frequency Limited to Max 60MHz?

Part Number: LMG1020
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software:

Hi all,

I would like to know the reason the SW frequency is limited to a Max 60Mhz.

I simulated with Tina-TI assuming that a 250 pF gate capacitance FET was driven.

Since start-up time is fast, I thought that switching frequency of 100Mhz could be used depending on the FET.

However, this device is limited to Max60MHz.

Is it because the power consumption reaches the limit?

Best Regards,

Ryusuke

  • Hi Ryusuke,

There's no internal limit for 60MHz operation. As long as you stay within the datasheet specs (including thermal), you can drive the LMG1020 to higher frequencies. The load that is being driven and the layout of the system can also have an affect on the switching frequency.

    Thanks,
    Rubas
