BQ51051B: Does TI have a wireless lithium battery charger IC that supports lower currents

Tool/software:

We presently use the BQ51051B and BQ51050 on a design. We are revising the design to use a smaller battery and now need a wireless lithium charge IC that supports a minimum charge current of 100mA and C/10 cutoff of 10mA. Does TI have an IC that supports this? If not, what is the minimum charge current that a TI IC supports?

Hi David

The BQ510XB family of devices do not work well at low current due to current measurement accuracy.

Charge current of 100mA would have a large variation above and below this point.

Termination at 10mA is not possible, would need to be about 50mA, but would also have large variation.

For low current have recommended TIDA-00318 ref design, this is a two IC solution, here.
