TPS56628: VREG5 voltage is high

Hi team,

I had built a circuit with 12V input and 5V output, but when I put in an input voltage of 10V or more, the voltage dropped by about 2.5V and it stopped working properly.
After investigating various failure points, we confirmed that the voltage at VREG5 was high (about 8V).
We believe that this phenomenon is caused by the destruction of the built-in LDO.
Are there any possible causes for the breakdown?

Hi Ryu,

Yeah the VREG5 voltage is definitely above the 5.7V max as mentioned in the EC table and the VREG5 pin can only sustain 6.5V abs max so it is likely the IC is now damaged. Have you swapped to a new unit and observed if the design now works? Please share your schematic/BOM so I can review.
