In LM5146, RC Filter is used at the input VIN pin. In some cases, VIN is directly connected to IC VIN pin. What is the design criteria for RC filter ? Does it really required if VIN has high freq spikes which does not exceed Absolute Max rating of IC ?

Thank you for posting. Some simplified drawings just show key components, but in good practice, you should always reserve a small RC at the input for improved noise immunity. See our EVM schematic as an example. The capacitor is usually 0.1uF, and the R is usually not greater than 10 Ohm. You may find such RCs in most of our EVMs.
