Hi,

We use the bq27426 in our design.

When the device is OFF, we have a low power consumption, and the Fuel Gauge is in NORMAL mode.

We measure the input current of our device with a current logger connected in series to the battery.

In this condition we see that the Fuel Gauge generates a current consumption pulse every 1 sec. The pulses are of around 240uA. You can see the attached figure 1.

When we send to the Fuel Gauge the ShutDown command, the pulse disappears. You can see the attached figure 2.

Can you explain the reason of these pulses?

Is this an expected behavior?

Hello Leonardo,

These pulses in Normal mode should be the gauge taking periodic measurements. When you are referring to the gauge iq, you should refer to the average iq over ~30 seconds.

Hello,

Yes, this is the expected behavior. In the device TRM you can see that the gauge will take Current, Voltage, and Temperature measurements once per second.
