TPS61088: TPS61088 can't be boosted and output voltage is same as the input voltage

Part Number: TPS61088

Tool/software:

Dears,

My customer are  using TPS61088 as a boost circuit, and there is a probability that TPS61088 cannot be boosted on the client side, resulting in abnormal voltage output and the output voltage being the same as the input voltage.
Analysis shows that TPS61088 cannot boost voltage when entering protection. When measuring VCC with a multimeter, it will return to normal or power on again to restore normal operation.
Under what circumstances does TPS61088 fail to self recover, and will protection be released after overvoltage, overcurrent, and overheating are restored?

  • Hi Jon,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    The schematic looks ok.

Below are some possible reasons for the abnormal.

    1. the Vin is not stable.

When starting or adding load, Vin could fall to UVLO, and the device will shut down.

    Please check the input voltage.

    2. the Vcc is not stable.

The VCC capacitance is not enough and the VCC drops a lot when switching. The device detects VCC UVLO and shut down.

    3. the EN voltage is not stable.

When EN voltage falls to its low threshold, the device shut down.

Feel free to connect me by email or phone when necessary.

    Best Regards,

    Fergus
