TPS2663: Threshold of reverse current protection

Part Number: TPS2663
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25947

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Is there any way to lower threshold of reverse current protection w/o increase resistance between V(IN_SYS)-V(OUT)?

My customer will use external N-ch FET whose ON resistance is 10mΩ.

As internal on resistance is 31mΩ and V(REVTH) is -15mV, typical threshold of reverse current protection is -365mA.

They would like to lower this value. Adding resistor series with FET or higher Ron FET lower the threshold. But it increase thermal dissipation.

  • Hello Shota Mago,

Can you please mention the system requirement?

Like input voltage and load current and type of source and load.

With TPS2663, it's not possible to lower the reverse current threshold.

However, you can look at TPS25947 or LM749x0-Q1 for true Reverse Current Blocking Performance During Slow Voltage Ramp at Output.

    Thank You

  • Hi Amrit,

    Thanks for your reply.

Noted that it's not possible to lower the reverse current threshold of TPS2663.

Can you please mention the system requirement?
    • Vin: 24V(typ), 30V(transient max)
    • Iout: 8A(max), 2~3A(typ)
    • Inrush current control
    • Small form factor(integrated FET)
    • Reverse current blocking

    Best regards,

    Shota Mago
