LM51772: soft-start and hiccup mode

Part Number: LM51772

Tool/software:

Hi Sir,

we have customer with inquire and we not sure can meet this specification,

1. need soft-start function is require, and can the LM51772 stop output after the protection function is trigger?

2. when the current reaches OCP, the output will turn off, when the over current is to relieve, the output will resume power. will the soft-start operate again at this time? if the IC restart, will the soft-start operate again?

  • Hi Tommy,

as you can see from the section of the datasheet you have copied above, the device provides two different over current protection methods:

Cycle by cycle: device does stop the current cycle and starts with the next clock phase the next cycle.

Hiccup mode: if several cycles of over current are detected the hiccup is activated the the device idles for the Hiccup time and then restarts with a Softstart phase

Both protection mode will stay on as long as the overcurrent is there and detected.

    Best regards,

     Stefan
