Hello Ken
No, the BQ25756E can not be used a purely buck-boost device when the battery is removed. Can you tell me why this setting is wanted?
You can set EN_TERM=0 on the BQ25756E when the battery is removed. This will make the BQ25756E regulate to the battery voltage constantly.
You can also use the BQ25758 to operate as a buck-boost controller.

A my account is evaluating PL5500 (a buck-boost controller with both CC/CV), so I planed to compete with BQ25756E before.
Now, I will promote BQ25758 to compete.

Hello Ken,
Thanks let me know if you have any questions.
By the way, both the BQ25756E and BQ25758 are bidirectional and can operate in both forward mode and reverse mode.

Hello Ken,
Thanks for working on this. Does the customer need the charger to be standalone?
Both the BQ25756E and BQ25758 have the option to be configured with I2C or to be standalone.
In forward mode, the BQ25756E can charge the battery in multiple stages with precharge mode, fast charge mode, constant voltage mode, and the charger can terminate automatically.

customer need a buck-boost converter, not a charger. I introduced BQ25758 to customer.
