UCC2897A: Based on PMP7499 12v 5a ,how to modified output is 24v2.5a

Part Number: UCC2897A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP7499,

Tool/software:

At present, the products based on PMP7499 output 12v5a work normally, and the new demand needs to modify the output voltage to 24V2.5A. How to modify the transformer coil and output inductance? Can you provide a reference ?

  • A UCC2897A active clamp forward power stage designed for 12V/5A is already well suited for 12V/2.5A. The simple modifications are:

    1. Reconfigure the current sense for your desired max current
    2. Transformer might be able to use a smaller core since the power is half
    3. Transformer may be able to use smaller diameter wire or different wire type better suited to the lower current
    4. Consider primary side MOSFETs and secondary side rectifiers to see if smaller/less expensive alternate components might be better suited?
    5. If power stage is modified, the dead time settings may need to be adjusted as part of the optimization process

12/2.5A is only 30W and a flyback converter can easily handle the power with less complexity/cost. You can search the TI reference design library here.

  • Description error, I need to change it to 24v 2.5a 60w output.

  • Same answer and same process applies.
