BQ25618E: Inductance value

Part Number: BQ25618E

Tool/software:

Hello,

On my design, I have the BQ25618E with a voltage input about 7V from a Qi IC.

I noticed that the BQ25618E is heating quite high.

I have on my design a 2.2uH inductor and this the max specified in the datasheet.

What could be the issue to use a 4.7uH in order to reduce ripple current?

Thank you

  • Hello,

Please refer to Section 10.2.2.1 Inductor Selection of the datasheet. We have not tested with other size inductors and cannot guarantee their performance. Higher inductance will have higher DCR usually which can cause more power loss and heating in the inductor. I would recommend optimizing the board layout better to minimize heating.

    Regards,
