Hi team,

the attachment are SCH and application block diagram, Could you help to review the SCH design?

  • Hi Jingguo,

I reviewed the schematic. Please see this file for my full comments: TUSB1064 MMI Board review.pdf

A few points I want to clarify:

    1. I did not see ESD protection in your schematic. Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can damage the 1064 when a strike occurs on the Type-C port. A common way to protect the port is by adding ESD diodes between the 1064 and the type-C port. A device we typically recommend is the PUSB3FR4

    2. I did not see capacitors between the 1064 and the USB device. Make sure you use 100nF capacitors here, and route the SSTX/SSRX lines appropriately:

    3. I am assuming the FLIP pin is controlled by the PD controller from your block diagram. You need FLIP to connect to the orientation GPIO pin on the PD controller so the Type-C port works in both orientations. In addition to FLIP, you should connect HPDIN to the HPD output on the PD controller. It is also common practice to route CTL0 and CTL1 to the PD controller rather than pull these up for one configuration.

Let me know if you have any questions

    Best,

    Shane
