TPS23882: layout for KSENSA route and how to connect GND layer

Part Number: TPS23882

Tool/software:

Hi

I question on TPS23882 layout

I can't get clear image on EVM.

can you help me to confirm my layout questoin .

1

KSENSA is a trace to TPS23882 ? and connect to GND near Rs1/Rs2 ?

2

becuase TPS23882 have thermal pad and agnd  DGND

can we use GND via on thermal pad , and then connect gournd layer to AGND and DGND ?

or we can't use GNN via on thermal pad ? and where should we connect GND layout to AGND/DGND ?

  • Hi Dimitry,

Hope I can provide some anwsers here:

    1. KSENSA is the kelvin point connect for channels 1 and 2, this should be referenced to ground and you want to ensure the paths to RS1 and RS2 are impedance balanced as much as possble which is why you want to stitch your ground plane according to the data sheet.

    2. AGND = DGND therefore you should have a ground copper pour on your top layer which your thermal pad will connect to. Putting a via under your thermal pad can help your thermal performance if you put a heat sink on the bottom layer. You should have a GND layer pour on your board that connects on top layer and bottom layer grounds, then stitch your ground planes together using vias.

    Regards,
