BQ27Z561EVM-011: bq27z561evm and bq35100evm max discharge current?

Part Number: BQ27Z561EVM-011
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27Z561

Tool/software:

Whats the discharge/recharge current limits for these dev kits.

I'm assuming it's higher than anything our pack can provide.

Currently discharging at a rate of 4A and seems to be handling it fine for the bq27z561.

Performing a learning cycle-Does the rate of discharge matter?

Regards,

  • Hello Craig,

There is not a specified maximum current for the BQ27z561 EVM (not sure why this was not documented). However, I think anything less than 5 amps should be completely fine. The rate of discharge does matter. The discharge needs to be between C/5 and C/10.

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Thanks Nick,

Note the first discharge step of the learning cycle does NOT specify a discharge rate-Only the second cycle. Are you certain that the FIRST discharge rate needs to be within that bound?

I'd note that the 2 discharges are updating different parmaters. Resistance parameters are NOT getting updated on the first discharge.

    Craig

  • You are correct. I thought you were referring to the second discharge. For the first discharge, the rate of discharge does not matter (as long as it is within spec of the battery pack you are using) since the discharge is disqualified for Ra table updates.

  • Great-Thanks, Saved me 3 hours!
