BQ25155: PMIC Requirements Recommendation

Part Number: BQ25155
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25180, BQ25620

Tool/software:

Hi Team TI

My requirement is as listed below

- Charger for 1/2 cell Li-Po Battery (3.7V, 800/1000 mAh)
- Buck outputs for:
  - Bluetooth module (1.7V to 5.5V, 50mA to 100mA)
  - Wi-Fi module (3.6V, 260mA)
  - LTE Cat1 Bis module (3.8V, 830mA)
  - GNSS Receiver (1.8V / 3.3V, 250mA)

Please recommend a suitable PMIC IC for this application.

  • Hi Vishal,

Can you clarify if it is 1 cell or 2 cell charger?

For the integrated rails you can look at the BQ2515x family of devices which integrates an LDO, and the BQ2512x family of devices which integrates a buck and an LDO.

Alternatively, we offer a few chargers that might be able to help but you would require additional discrete chargers.

    Best Regards,

    Juan Ospina

  • Hello Juan Ospina,

    Thank you for your response.

The battery cell count is 1.

You can suggest options for separate chargers and buck converters, as well as chargers and buck converters integrated into a single PMIC IC solution.

  • Hi Vishal,

If you are looking to create a discrete solution then I recommend creating a new E2E thread with a potential buck converter as the part number.

Based on the charger requirements, I recommend the BQ25180 family of devices as a linear solution or the BQ25620 family of devices as a switching solution. Both are able to handle 1A single cell charging with integrated power path. If you find that your discharge current exceeds the discharge current needs of the BQ25180 then I recommend you look at the BQ25620 which is able to handle higher power.
