TPS23754: Inquiry about the function to notify by distinguishing between POE / POE+ in TPS23754

Part Number: TPS23754

Tool/software:

Hi, TI expert

A customer has an inquiry while developing a FIXED RFID terminal using TPS23754.

Q1) Is there a function in TPS23754 that can distinguish between POE / POE+ and notify?

There is a problem of controlling the limitations of the functions that the terminal must support based on whether or not it is connected to 802.3at / 802.3af.

Q2) Could you please check if there is anything that could be a trigger?

Please check. Thanks.

  • Hi Grady,

    Thanks for reaching out!

TPS23754's T2P will be low for 802.3at and high for 802.3af. The way TPS23754 can tell these two are based on number of classification events, at has 2 events while af has 1 event. But the PD won't have other functions for at and af. Normally a downstream MCU can check the T2P pin output, then the MCU can do power allocation accordingly (13W if af, 25.5W if at).

    Best regards,

    Diang
