Hello Technocrats,

I am using the TPS65987 EVM, while connecting to the usb 2.0 port and usb 3.0 port I am not able to differentiate , which cable in connected. Even while monitoring the 0x5f status register, my bit 4 and bit 5 gets turned on,
Can anyone please led me know what best can be done to differentiate between usb 2.0 and usb3.0 ?

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

The PD will always report USB3 and USB2, however please note that the PD does not do any data.

Hello Kevin,

Thanks for the response. In that case on what parameters does the PD differentiate between USB2.0 and USB3.0. Are there any registers which helps me to understand what is connected to the usb connector.

Hi Anshuman,

Of course!

I believe by default we set both of these bits to true as the PD does not differentiate as we do not handle any data connections via D+ and D- .
