TPS43061: loop stablity in skipping mode(light load)

Part Number: TPS43061

Tool/software:

Hi team,

may I know when TPS43061 is in light load(skipping mode), if

we need to consider loop stablity? I thinks it will be open loop state and don‘t need consider loop compensation in skipping mode.

Regards

Amber

  • Hello Amber,
Thanks for reaching out to us via e2e.

You are right, there is no closed loop regulation in skip mode, so the compensation will not make a difference.
In skip mode, the controller will send one "pack" of energy to the output and - with a given set of components - there is not any way of changing this amount of energy.
When it is too high, all that the controller can do is wait until the output voltage has dropped so far that it will decide to send another pack.

Please adjust the compensation network, so that it will match with the higher load conditions.

All information in this correspondence and in any related correspondence is provided “AS IS” and “with all faults” and is subject to TI’s Important Notice (www.ti.com/.../important-notice.shtml).

    Best regards
    Harry
