LMZ14203H: Transient response when crossing continuous to discontinous mode

Part Number: LMZ14203H

Tool/software:

I'm trying to understand what TI controller is used in the LMZ14203H simple switcher.  The controller in  this switcher has a problem with transient response when it transitions from continuous to discontinuous mode or vise versa.  Somehow the softstart cap affects this response, but there is no detail as to what is occurring and why the transient response becomes very poor on the transition.  It is OK in discontinuous or continuous, but going over the transition is a problem.  I was hoping the actual controller datasheet would have more info on this issue.  Can you provide the controller pn or a more detailed explanation of this issue?  I'm trying to explain this issue to my customer since we are failing spec due to this problem.

Regards,

Jeremy
