BQ25703A: Battery charger buck boost standalone

Hi, I have 12V input and I need to charge a 3cell battery Li-ion so I'm thinking of using a a buck-boost charger.
Is there a model that can work standalone without I2C, cpu etc?

Hello Luc,

If your system does not require a system load I recommend using BQ25756E, This part can be controlled using I2C or as a standalone device. If your system requires a system load, I recommend using the BQ25750.

I need with power path, are there other less expensive standalone codes or do they all need I2C?

Hello Luc,

Most of our buck-boost battery charger are controlled through I2C/SMBus.

Another option:

The BQ25798 is a buck-boost charger that comes with a Prog pin with the following functionality. Please refer to page 6 of the BQ25798 datasheet for a description of the pin:

Even though it is an I2C based charger, will the prog pin be enough to meet your RC-settable request?
