UCD3138OL64EVM-031: JTAG Debug issue

Part Number: UCD3138OL64EVM-031
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD3138

Tool/software:

Development Board: UCD3138OL64EVM-031
CCS Version: V12.7.1.00001
Compiler Version: v5.2.9
JTag: XDS110V2

I am using the new development board, UCD3138OL64EVM-031, and I have already enabled the JTAG functionality using PMBus.

I followed the video "Using JTAG with the UCD3138: Overview of programming options" from the link below to set up the UCD3138 target configuration:

However, when erasing the flash, it seems that the erase data flash is missing, leading to an error message during the subsequent blank check. This prevents normal execution of the following debug process.

Is there any way to solve this issue? Or is there any JTAG-related documentation you can share?

  • Hello Parrish,

The UCD31xx Technical Reference Manual has sections on the flash. See chapters 16 and 17. As for you specific issue, please give me until the end of the week for a response. Just to confirm, are you able to complete all of the training videos prior to the JTAG section? (Ex. can flash a firmware onto the UCD and see the waveforms)

    Regards,

    Jonathan Wong

  • Dear Jonathan,

    Thank you for your explanation.

Later, I switched to using PMBUS for downloading, and it was successful. After that, connecting with JTAG worked.

I suspect this issue occurred because I tried to connect directly with JTAG without using PMBUS to download first.

Finally, I followed the instructions in this video again, and I was able to use JTAG for debugging properly.
