TPS56A37: Paralleling EN pin of TPS56A37RPAR

Part Number: TPS56A37

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

Currently we are using 4 TPS56A37RPAR in our design. We are planning to control the EN signal of these 4 switchers from a microcontroller. Can you please let us know whether we can tie all the 4 EN pins together and control from a common open drain mosfet. The gate terminal of the mosfet shall be controlled from the processor GPIO.

Also can you please let us know whether we can pull up the enable pin to some other voltage source apart from Vin using a resistor. This is because as the EN pin has an internal current source whether there will be any leakage current flow from the internal current source to the voltage source when the voltage source is turned off but still Vin voltage is present.

  • Hello,

You can tie all 4 EN pins to one source for synchronization, and control from the open drain mosfet. Also, EN does not have to be connected to VIN. It can be connected to another voltage source and turned high at a particular voltage within its threshold.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,

    Calan
