UCC27517: UCC27517DBVR

Part Number: UCC27517

Tool/software:

Can you please tell me what is the max rated power value of the

UCC27517DBVR
  • Hi Divyaa,

The maximum rated power is dependent on the thermals of the IC. Many variables can affect the thermals, like input signals, switching frequency, and power device being driven.

These are the two equations to keep in mind when calculating power rating:

    1. Tj = (P * RθJA) + Ta

    2. P = Qg * VDD * Fsw

Equation 1 allows you to figure out what the maximum power the gate driver can handle. For the UCC27517, the maximum rated junction temperature is Tj = 150C, and the junction-ambient thermal resistance is RθJA = 217.6C/W. Assuming ambient temperature Ta = 25C, you can calculate the maximum power P = 0.574W.

Equation 2 allows you to figure out how much power your system characteristics dissipates. You can use that value in equation 1 to see if you are within the device's specs.

    Thanks,
    Rubas
