BQ25895: questions about ICO

Part Number: BQ25895

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I have three questions about ICO function when device work in CC mode, could you please help to clarify? Thanks.

1. When ICO is enabled, is there any case will trigger IDPM_LIM to reduce the value automatically?

2. If rise voltage of VBUS, will IDPM_LIM change to the same level accordingly or keep in low level limitation always?

3. If IDPM_LIM will not increment as description in question 2, may I disable ICO function in REG02 after reset, then configure REG00 for input current limit manually?

  • Hi Shengyue,

    Please see my comments below.

1)Yes, if for some reason current capacity of input source is reduced the ICO can function to lower IDPM_LIM. For example, input current limit is initially 1.5A, but input adapter changes to only be able to support up to 500mA ICO will lower IDPM_LIM to 500mA.

2)VBUS voltage rise will have no effect on IDPM_LIM value.

3)Yes, you are free to disable ICO function via REG02[4] = 0b and set input current limit manually via REG00.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
