TPS54202: buck used as inverting buck boost

Part Number: TPS54202

Tool/software:

Many TI buck convertors could be set to inverting buck boost, for example: TPS54202 in attached docs.

How do I know if one buck convertor could be set to inverting buck boost or not, any specific feature to indicate, for example: control mode, switching frequency, light load behavior…

So that we could say something like: “If the converter is PCM mode, then most probably it could be configured as inverting buck boost”.

  • Hi Robin

Yes you can consider that most buck converter can be configured as inverting buck boost.

Just note that when work as IBB, the Vds_max will be Vin+|Vout|, and IL will be Iout+Iin.

    Thanks and best regards.
