BQ24715: Why doesn’t BQ24715 support ICO like BQ25890?

Part Number: BQ24715
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25890, , BQ25720

Tool/software:

As we know BQ25890 support the feature of ICO to prevent an unknown adapter overload, why doesn’t BQ24715 also support ICO?

Further,why doesn’t BQ24715 support VAP and FRS like BQ25720?

Only  four-switch topology chargers are capable of supporting VAP,right?

Only the chargers with TypeC OTG has the chance of supporting FRS,right?

  • Hello Zhang,

As we know BQ25890 support the feature of ICO to prevent an unknown adapter overload, why doesn’t BQ24715 also support ICO?

The simple answer is that we can't implement every feature into every charger. I'm not sure why this feature was not implemented.

Only  four-switch topology chargers are capable of supporting VAP,right?

Only the chargers with TypeC OTG has the chance of supporting FRS,right?

    Yes, This is correct.

    Best Regards,

    Christian.
