LM3410: Boost driver with accurate, low level dimming

Part Number: LM3410

Tool/software:

Hello!

I am in need a an integrated circuit for an LED driver design given the following requirements:

  • Voltage in: 2.7-4.3 volts (single lithium ion battery)
  • 4x LEDs in series
    • 500 mA each @  2.93V (2 A @ 11.72 V)
    • I would also be fine with a lower current, if needed:
    • 375 mA each @ 2.86V (1.5 A @11.44 V)
  • Dimming would be controlled by a PWM input signal from a microcontroller
  • Dimming needs to be stable at very low duty cycle
    • If a single boost driver IC is unable to support accurate, non flickering dimming at low duty cycle, perhaps an additional chip is needed.

I came across the LM3410, but I am wondering if this chip is logical at my high current requirement.

Basically, I am trying to design an LED driver circuit that can boost input voltage enough to drive the LEDs in series, can dim LEDs to an extremely low current without flicker through PWM control, and that can withstand 1.5-2 amps of current output continuously for a few minutes at a time.

Any help with getting my started is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Regards,

-Grant
