BQ25750: BQ25750 Voltage feedback

Part Number: BQ25750
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25756,

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

We are looking to charge from 1S-10S batteries (from 4.2V to 42V), and according to the BQ25756 calculator, to charge a 1S (4.2V) battery with Rtop = 249k, our digital potentiometer would need to measure around 143k-ohm. We are unable to achieve that resistance.

If we change Rtop from 249k to  maybe 147k or so, we would be able to charge across the entire range. However, according to all the documents on the BQ25750 we have, it is stated that the 249k resistor is recommended. Are we able to change that resistor while avoiding any damage to the IC or the system? Or are we limited to only using the 249k resistor?
