BQ25172: Shutdown vs standby and how to achieve?

Part Number: BQ25172

Tool/software:

Howdy! Want to make sure I understand the datasheet correctly,

I think grounding TS = standby. Shutdown = lowering VIN below ~2.8V. Difference between the two looks about 100uA IQ

im a bit confused by the IQ section 6.5, makes me think grounding TS will shutdown the device. While section 7.4.2 makes me think vin < ~2.8V shuts down device

thanks!

  • Hi Cameron,

Grounding TS results in IQ of ISD_IN_TS of about 80uA typical. This results in Charge Disable, the device will be operational but charge won't take place. I'd say this is closer to standby in terms of behavior but in terms of IQ it would be ISD_IN_TS.

VIN below VUVLO results in a device shutdown (undervoltage lockout) as described in 7.4.1. This IQ isn't really provided in the datasheet since its assumed VIN isn't really present if its below the 2.8V threshold.
