TPS61021A: Efficient energy harvester

Part Number: TPS61021A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61033, TPS61299

Tool/software:

Hi. I am looking for an energy harvesting IC that can take an input of approx. 0.8v-1.2v @ tens of ma to several hundred ma and output 3.7v or 4.2v for a LiPo battery @ several hundred of ma to 1A or 2A. Basically this is an energy harvesting application with high efficiency. Any recommendations? I've perused the website and can't seem to find "the ideal" part.

Thanks!

  • Hi Kevin,

So I would like to know what you need as "ideal". Most similar applications does not need LiPo battery always be charged even when harvested Vin is low to 0.8V. So 0.8V Vin for start up is not necessary. If this applies for your design, too, you can try TPS61033.

If you really need 0.8V Vin for start up, you can look at TPS61299. But the charging current cannot reach up to 2A.

    Best Regards,

    Travis
