Below are past records:

My customer is using BQ25730 and has some questions to ask. Could you pls help with it? Thank you!

1. What are the steps for charging control? Are the steps same as below?

  • Step1: Setup input current direction
  • Step2: Setup maximum Vin and Iin [InputVoltage()&Iin_Host()]
  • Step3: setup Charging voltage and current [ChargeCurrent()&ChargeVoltage()

2. Are charging voltage and current smaller than maximum Vin and Iin? Are charging voltage and current used for adjusting battery charging speed?

3. Products have two charging ports and customer uses two BQ25730 with only one battery. Can the two BQ25730 share one battery MOS and one Rsr?

Hi, Zach,

It is very easy to get started with battery chargers. I usually follow the quick start guide BQ25730EVM. www.ti.com/.../BQ25730EVM

  1. Disable watchdog timer (optional, for manual test only)
  2. Set max charge voltage
  3. Set charge current

The board will start charging.

The charge voltage and charge current are independent of input voltage and input current. You can use higher charge current to shorten charge time.

It is Okay to have dual charger on board. Suggest using two BATFETs and two RSR. Just tie the battery rail together.

Tiger
