BQ25890H: ILIM PIN

Part Number: BQ25890H

Tool/software:

Hi team,

can the ILIM pin NC in the real application? or it must to be connected to GND when not use? and I found When the charge is NC to system and battery, the input current, leakage current is about 20mA when NC ILIM pin, which seems lead to it can't activate the battery when over discharge. could you give some suggestions about that?

  • Hi team, any update?

Customer found that the charge can't activate the battery when over discharge, and I let him connect the ILIM pin to GND, the issue will not exist, so I want to know why, and I check the EN_ILIM is disable state.

  • Jingguo,

No, If ILIM pin is open, the input current is limited to zero. Please refer to 8.2.13 Input Current Limit on ILIM on the d/s.

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Hi Ning,

As you reply, the ILIM pin can’t NC, from my understanding, the EN_ILIM is enable in default setting, and customer will disable it after system start up. But before that, the ILIM pin NC stands the input current limit is 0. So leading to this issue.

Is it right? If the root cause is as my description, do we have some work around solution can avoid it? Their PCB board is fixed because this is a production project, and we are as a second source. So Could you give some suggestions?
