TPSM64406: Power supply design with TPSM64406

Part Number: TPSM64406
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC81416

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I am trying to design a power supply module using the TPSM64406 device.
Requirements are listed below -
1. IOUT = 2A at VOUT  = 0-5V, IOUT = 0.2A at VOUT  = 0-10V and  IOUT = 0.1 at VOUT  = 0-15V
2. Solution area must be as low as possible
3. All three output combinations needs to be designed in single solution.

FYI, i am planning to use the DAC81416 to change the output voltage for TPSM64406 (please have a look in the logical block diagram and see if there is any issue with it).

I need help with is -
1. circuit diagram with proper VIN and VOUT caps.
2. simulation help to verify the results before putting it in the design

Thanks,
Sanjay

  • Hello

You will not be able to get zero volts from the DC/DC.

This particular converter has a minimum output of 0.8V; that is typical of most of our DC/DC.

It is probable best to design for your lowest output voltage, then check the design at the other voltages.

You can use the SPICE model on our website, or the calculator tool, or Webench to help with your design.

    Thanks

  • Hi Frank,

I agree that TPSM64406 will go 0V output, i am even okay with the 1V minimum output.

Webench is not working for this device and pspice simulations are taking really long time to complete very basic checks. And i am not able to check properly across multiple test cases.

So please help with (if possible) -
    1. provide a simplis model (optimised for very fast simulations switching power modules)
    2. I will provide the very basic circuit diagram will need help in verifications for the same

    Thanks,
    Sanjay

  • Hello

I will try to find out if we have a SIMPLIS model for this device.

    Thanks

  • Hello

We will continue this on email.

    Thanks
